FAITH OF A MUSTARD SEED
Matthew 17:20 tells us that if we have even just ‘grain sized faith’, He will do mighty things.
I am so grateful that God only requires a mustard seed of faith from us to move even the greatest of mountains. Mountains in our lives which seem impossible for us to conquer. I asked God this question, ‘Why do You require only a tiny morsel of faith from us to do our seemingly monumental unachievable requests’? His answer was simple. ‘Deb, I know so well your human frailty. The comparison between what you can believe for, compared to what I can do, is incomparable. My ability is infinite. My capability compared to your faith ability is immeasurable, but with that little you have, I am more than able to do what is needed to be done’.
Isn’t God amazing?
When we began our debt-busting journey, the mountain was so big, we could not see any way of achieving our goal of ridding this monster from our lives before moving on to our next season. All we knew to do was offer up our mustard seed of faith to God and begin to move forward, doing what we could in the natural day by day.
As we joined that tiny mustard seed of faith to God’s amazing capability, we saw this ugly big mountain supernaturally get cut down little by little, piece by piece. Then what seemed like, all of a sudden, we saw that mountain get thrown deep into the oceanic abyss. Our supersized mountainous business debt was paid in full in supernatural time. Unbelievable! God really does move mountains!
You may have a mountain sitting in front of you that you believe is stopping you from fulfilling the call of God on your life. God’s word however, tells us that trusting Him with your mustard seed of faith and moving forward, one step at a time in doing what you can do in the natural, will definitely see your mountain hurled into the sea.
Q: What is your first response when a mountain is in front of you? History is a great teacher. Think about other mountains you have had in your life. How did God come through for you then? Same God, same authority, just different mountain.
Q: What is the word of God saying to you?
Matthew 17:20 (NLT): You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as smallas a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
1 John 5:14 (ESV): And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
Isaiah 40:40 (NIV): Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed.
