GIVE OUR LIVES AWAY – EXTREME LIVING
Extreme God living! To me it speaks of throwing caution to the wind when it comes to trusting God, stepping out in His purposes and not looking back. God breathed His life on you to do the extreme.
Extreme is the place God tests us. Do we trust Him with our lives? Do we have extreme gratefulness, worship, giving and obedience? When we realise God is fully trustworthy, we can dare to take that first step out of our comfort zone.
It was the weekend. Saturday came and went but then it was Sunday and we were always hungry for Sunday to come so we could glean from others who hear from God. I was especially eager today as we were having guest speakers. They were called Team Extreme. Team Extreme. Even the name got me. Anyone doing the extreme for God I wanted to hear from.
This team had a whole production going on. They were a group of world class athletes who did extreme physical demonstrations. They were lifting weights, lifting cars, crazy radical lifting, smashing bricks and tearing telephone books apart with their bare hands as physical examples of pushing through tough stuff. As they demonstrated these extreme actions, they shared of the extreme love and grace God had showered on them while they were living anything but extreme lives for God.
After the service I was pondering on what I had just witnessed. An extremely strong and powerful team who had done extreme acts in front of us. It was amazing. It was incredible. However, no matter what the team did that day, it pales into insignificance compared to Gods far greater extreme. Extreme in His power, in His giving, in His grace, in His mercy and in His faithfulness. God’s desire is to prove Himself above and beyond what we could even begin to imagine.
We have seen His extreme in our own lives but it starts by us making the first move of trust. It comes from us being willing to take that first step, even if we didn’t always know what the step after that will look like.
Within moments of me reflecting on those thoughts, people started walking up to my husband and I andplacing pledge notes for support and money into our hands for our ministry. Putting money into our hands! For our ministry! I couldn’t believe it. We were not the guest speakers. The Extreme Team were. We had not captured the attention of everyone in the room that morning, the visiting team had, and yet God directed people to us. To give to us. That is our radical extreme God!
When you choose to live fully committed to trusting God and His call on your life, He will turn up and do the extreme for you.
