Same God

Is God going to come through for me this time?

This is a question we ask ourselves whenever we feel hemmed in on all sides – when we are faced with circumstances that cause us to feel like we are drowning. During these times we know that short of a miracle we can’t see any possible solution. How do we move from the feeling of being overwhelmed, to putting our wholehearted trust in the ONLY ONE who can shift the atmosphere of our circumstances?

If you are like me, you have many solutions in your mind on how God could solve the issue at hand, only to find yourself frustrated knowing your human efforts would be at best, a bandaide. So what do we do?

Over the years my family and I have dealt with many situations where circumstances seemed impossible to overcome – not just in the natural, but emotionally as well. Several years ago, we had one such all-consuming situation which I personally allowed to almost swallow me up, and would have, had it not been for the anchor of God’s Word.

Thank God for His Word. Thank God for His still small voice that speaks His Word into our hearts at just the right time. Yes, thank God for His Word, however, unless we surrender these impossible situations to Him, choosing to leave them in His throne room and trust Him with the outcome, we will pick those concerns back up on the way out of His presence. When we do that, we are saying; “You God, the creator of all things, the holder of the universe in balance, can not solve my problem.” We need to trust God in the process.

Trust God in the process. This was the word God gave me recently as we found ourselves in yet another situation that seemed impossible to overcome. All I could pray was ‘God help.’ He immediately spoke those words into my spirit. I knew that was God but I needed more, I needed a scripture to hang onto as well. God led me to Psalm 138:8 (NKJV) “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.”

It is not uncommon to trust while doubting. Mark 9: 22-24 tells us of a father who also had a desperate prayer to see his son released from demon possession. He asked Jesus, ‘But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

If you are going through a situation that seems bigger than your human emotions can handle, ask God to speak into your spirit a word and confirm it with a scripture. You are not faithless when you doubt and believe at the same time. Every time the situation overwhelms you, speak to it with what God has spoken to you. For me I remind myself of God’s whisper – ‘Trust the process’. I proclaim His word to me – “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.”

I pray you know God’s faithfulness is hard times. My book – Out of Control is all about handing over to God what only He can handle. Available at all online bookstores globally.
